The Mariinsky Orchestra holds a distinguished history as one of Russia’s oldest musical institutions, and one of the most acclaimed orchestras in the world. It makes its Mondavi Center debut conducted by Valery Gergiev and features pianist Daniil Trifonov.

Friday, December 8, 2017 - 8:00pm

The Hot Sardines are back to share music that evokes New York speakeasies, Parisian cabarets and New Orleans jazz halls. In Holiday Stomp, the Sardines infuse  yuletide classics with brassy horn arrangements, rollicking piano melodies, jazz vocals and amazing tap.

In one of three events celebrating legendary composer Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday, jazz pianist Bill Charlap and longtime trio bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington perform songs from Charlap’s 2004 tribute, Somewhere: The Songs of Leonard Bernstein.

An unexpected twist: Wynton Marsalis sits out a tour with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, ceding the Jackson Hall stage to jazz piano titan Chick Corea.

Teaming up with his sons, daughter and daughter-in-law, O’Connor effortlessly mixes progressive bluegrass, country and indie folk into a musical evening that is both familiar and eye-opening.
